The OKTOPUS® SP 100 is an excavator-attached vacuum manipulator built for one job: getting large PV modules into the ground safely, fast, and without damaging them.
For the operator on site, the key advantage is module protection. Vacuum level runs about 60% lower than standard glass lifters (approx. 270 mbar), so even sensitive bifacial glass-glass modules are handled gently, with lower risk of microcracks or glass stress — fewer damaged panels, fewer costly write-offs. Suction pads adjust flexibly along the bridge to fit different module sizes and frame widths, so one device covers current and future module generations instead of needing separate equipment per project.
For the fleet owner, it’s a question of fit and return. Interchangeable adapter plates and quick-coupler connection systems mean the SP 100 attaches to the excavators already on the job site — no need to standardise on one machine brand. Changeovers between devices are fast, which keeps machine availability high and cuts downtime. The 2-circuit vacuum system, integrated reserve vacuum, and visual/audible alarms for vacuum or power failure give a redundant safety margin that matters both for crew safety and for meeting DIN EN 13155 and CE (Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC) compliance — relevant for insurance, audits, and tender requirements.
Day to day, it runs on a mains-independent 24V battery with radio remote control, so it works on remote ground-mount sites without external power, and tool-free adjustment of the side members and suction pad retainers means the crew can reconfigure it on site without extra tooling or downtime.
